When I ran for City Council, I brought passion for our community and a desire to see ALL Santa Paula’s residents thrive. I promised to “ask tough questions” so we could “build a fiscally strong foundation for present and future generations.” I retain those same commitments today.

Select Accomplishments & Activities:

• Street Repairs: Pushed for the implementation of a Pavement Management Plan. Staff projected it would take at least 20 years to re-pave all of Santa Paula's roads. We are on track to finish in the next 4 years. 

  • Completed the 1.7-mile Harvard Boulevard rehabilitation project in 2024, including pavement work and replacing aging water and sewer infrastructure.

• Fiscal Stability: Pushed for the city to adopt a Reserve Policy, leading to an increase in the reserve balance and a lowering of our long-term fiscal risk.

  • Reserve levels have increased from $700,000 to over $3.5 Million since 2018

• Pedestrian Crossings: Pushed for improved pedestrian crossings on 10th Street and Main Street. 

  • Main Street Flashing Pedestrian Lights have been installed. 

  • I have been working with our Caltrans District 7 representative to get the 10th Street crosswalks improved as part of the repaving project on SR-150.

• Business and Economic Development: 

  • Supported downtown beautification.

  • Adopted an online permitting system to better track how our permit streamlining is working.

  • Supported business outreach to learn more about our business needs and concerns.

  • Partnered with Heritage Valley tourism bureau in increase tourism activity.
     

• Fire Annexation: I opposed annexation to the County Fire district because I had concerns about some of the terms of the contract.

  • The Tax Sharing Agreement gave away 80% of what we used to receive in property tax.
     

• Public Safety: Supported police staffing, training and facility improvements

  • Advocated for the launch of Police Chief's Advisory Committee as a way for the department to regularly hear from the community.

  • Supported Police-community events like Cone with a Cop, Coffee with a Cop and National Night Out.

• Water & Sewer:

  • Rates: Voted to refinanced debt in the water & sewer enterprise funds saving rate-payers nearly $1 million a year in each fund.

  • Capacity: New water wells and storage capacity brought online.

​

• Union Oil Building: I sent the letter, when I was Mayor, asking for Chevron to consider donating the building to the city and sharing with them how important it was to the community.

  • Not only did we acquire the building from Chevron, they also donated $2 Million to the city to perform upgrades, some of which is being placed in an endowment to fund future improvements.
