Goals
When I ran for council eight years ago, I brought passion for our community and a desire to see ALL Santa Paula’s residents thrive. I promised to “ask tough questions” so we could “build a fiscally strong foundation for present and future generations.”
Accomplishments & Activities the last 4 years:

Pushed for the implementation of a Pavement Management Plan, leading to approx. 26 of Santa Paula's 55 centerline miles of road receiving paving or maintenance since 2018

In addition to the above, work on the 18 month Harvard Boulevard Project (water main and sewer line replacement and street paving) is beginning now!

Pushed for city to adopt a Reserve Policy, leading to an increase in the reserve balance and a lowering of our long-term fiscal risk

Reserve levels have increased from $700,000 to $3.5 Million since 2018

Pushed for improved pedestrian crossings on 10th Street and Main Street. Funding was approved Summer 2022
-
Worked to increase the diversity of housing options for all Santa Paula residents
-
Worked with staff to negotiated the Athens franchise agreement to make sure the terms were favorable to the city and included appropriate protections
-
Voted to refinanced debt in the water & sewer enterprise funds saving nearly 1 million a year in each fund

Helped launch the Santa Paula ACT (youth empowerment) program & Santa Paula Teen Center

Collaborated with county and state partners to secure 1.5 million for the SPIRIT homeless shelter expansion

Founding member of: Council’s Homeless and Housing Subcommittee, Social Justice Ad-hoc Committee, and the downtown business improvement district (PBID) board
- Worked to improve the city’s reputation around Ventura County

Served as Mayor 2022

Voted to increase funding for Youth and Senior Activities

Advocated for a feasibility study for joining the Clean Power Alliance

Worked with staff to put together a City-wide Strategic Plan

Supported the installation of new playground equipment at city parks

Advocated for a re-design of the city's website and served on the ad-hoc committee that selected the website builder and design

Opposed the moving of City Hall to the industrial park south of the 126 freeway

In the next four years, I want to:

Make sure that street maintenance projects continue

Oversee the creation of the new public park at East Area 1, and seek solutions for park maintenance

Continue to work for an increase in public access to information, including a return of interpretation at council meetings

Work for a continued increase in activities for youth and seniors

Continue to collaborate with and advocate for our community

Ensure public safety continues to improve

Work to make sure all of our residents have an attainable place to live

Make sure Santa Paula maintains its fiscal stability
Accomplishments in my first Term (2014-18)

I increased transparency by getting staff reports posted on the city’s website

I balanced budgets and pushed for fiscal sustainability
-
I advocated for the improvements of the at-grade street crossings along the railroad tracks

Advocated for, and made sure youth voices were heard, in the opening of the Santa Paula Teen Center
-
I voted for increased funding for public safety and youth programs
-
I pushed for street maintenance to be a priority
-
I fought the placement of a power plant near the city
-
I helped organize the city’s first senior resource fair
-
I started the city’s first Youth Advisory Council
-
I participated in emergency preparedness efforts
-
I served as Mayor during city manager transition period, working with three managers in one year
